The Ballroom Thieves Release New EP ‘Undone’; Announce 2023 Tour Dates with Joshua Radin
May 26, 2023 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
For the past decade, acclaimed New England indie duo The Ballroom Thieves (Martin Earley and Calin Peters) have brought their energetic and dynamic live show – a powerful quartet of searing vocals, drums, bass, electric guitars, and more recently, synths – to venues and festivals across North America. Now, they have scaled things back to expose the bones of some of their most well-loved songs with the release of Undone, an EP featuring stripped-down versions of fan favorites. The pair has been bringing these versions and more to life on their intimate duo tour, and recently announced additional dates, including a fall support slot with celebrated singer/songwriter Joshua Radin.

“As we’ve grown as people, we haven’t always stayed connected to our older music, but this year’s experiment in stripping our band down to just the two of us has made some room to find ourselves again in these songs. We added harmonies we’ve had in our heads for years to one track. In another, we switched lead singers and removed all other vocals,” they explain. “This EP was equal parts familiar and fresh to create, and it was special to make it by ourselves in our house in Maine, amongst the chaos of renovating and redecorating. In that way, ‘Undone’ became part of a broader life experiment centered around treating the old familiar as if we were experiencing it again for the first time. So whether you’ve heard the previous versions of these songs a thousand times or you just discovered our band today, we hope you hear something both new and at the same time recognizable in this project.”

The Ballroom Thieves released their last full length album Clouds last summer to critical acclaim, with No Depression calling it a “musical gut punch” and the Boston Globe calling it “lush, omnivorous.” They spent the summer and fall on the road charming audiences across the country with a full band in support of the album, including a prime spot on the Newport Folk Festival.
