On April 13, Nettwerk celebrates Record Store Day with several limited edition, exclusive vinyl-only releases – Buffalo Tom (30th Anniversary Limited Edition) self-titled debut, Finn Andrews (of The Veils) Body Of Light/My Lotus Flower & Me 7” double single and in collaboration with Justin Time Essential Collection, Late Night Blues (Live At The New Penelope Café) by blues harp legend James Cotton.
Buffalo Tom’s 1989 self-titled debut, produced by J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) and mixed by Sean Slade, was a seminal album of the pre-alt-grunge era. The upcoming release will include new, original cover art of the album’s classic design and a deluxe gatefold with rare photos and a 12” print of the new cover art. British/New Zealand musician, and lead singer and songwriter of The Veils, Finn Andrews reveals his most personal songwriting to date with the release of his first solo material One Piece At A Time (out now via Nettwerk). The resulting songs are some of the most profound and intimate pieces of work Andrews’ has done. Recorded at The Lab in Auckland, and co-produced by Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins), not only do the songs’ subject matter expose more of his life than before, but Andrews also admits that their arrangements allowed for less to hide behind, showcasing his voice in a different way. The limited edition Record Store Day 7” single will feature two bonus tracks – “Body Of Light” and “My Lotus Flower & Me” – from the recording session.
James Henry Cotton gained notoriety in the 1950s, playing harmonica for Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters, including Waters’ Grammy-winning album Hard Again (1977). While he began his career as a sideman, he went on to record several solo albums, establishing himself as a legend of American Blues. First time on vinyl, this rare 1967 recording live in Montreal’s pioneering jazz bar The New Penelope Café, is fourteen tracks highlighting his extraordinary talent.
