Alt-pop Band The Strike Release Synth-driven Reverie “Down”
May 10, 2024 BY Emma Orland
Today, Los Angeles alt-pop band The Strike release the effortless, synth-driven reverie “Down,” featuring modern sounding production and larger than life instrumentation and lyrics. Listen HERE.
“’Down’ is about the joys and difficulties of trying to ‘make it’ in the music business,” reflects The Strike. “The band started playing its first shows at Velour in Provo, UT. Like all artists, we anticipated that we would be playing bigger and bigger stages as we kept at it. It is an interesting feeling to return to your home venue and play there after being in the game for a while. It can feel as though your progress has plateaued. But on the other hand, bringing the house down for your hometown fans still feels just as good. As artists, we have tried hard not to become jaded and maintain gratitude for any opportunity to play to fans who know and love the songs.”
The Strike are bringing their energetic live show to U.S. audiences this year for their headline tour starting July 11th in Houston. Catch the band performing their latest singles like the edgy “Heroes of the Heart,” feel-good track “Soundtrack,” friendzone bop “Just Friends,” and “Down,” off their forthcoming album. ABOUT THE STRIKE:
For over a decade, a life-affirming spell seems to enchant every audience The Strike plays to. It’s why the explosively melodic indie-pop band have been booked for weeks-long residencies from Dubai (at the behest of music legend Quincy Jones) to China (at Qingdao Beer Festival). Back in LA, they have an appeal that’s lured fans to travel across continents to see them, and others to get Strike-themed tattoos. Music supervisors have used their songs on Dancing With the Stars, America’s Got Talent, and Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. They’ve even gone on to tour the US with artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Journey, Kelly Clarkson, Cold War Kids and more. None of this good fortune is lost on The Strike. This is why their new music was created, with the goal of capturing this phenomenon of intoxicating folks wherever they go. “A lot of our music is very upbeat and major-sounding and…we’re not afraid of that,” says David Maemone, guitarist-keyboardist.
