Porches Remixes Bedroom Pop Artist Aunty Social

New York indie-synth-pop project Porches shares a remix of 24-year-old Toronto based bedroom pop artist Aunty Social’s (real name Daniela Gitto) single “Trying.” The original, along with its amazing DIY music video, reflects on Daniela’s religious upbringing and the emotional turmoil she felt separating herself from it. Daniela explains about the remix, “Porches brought a completely fresh identity to my song while also keeping its authenticity, I’ve grown so attached to this version that I almost forgot about the original. I am so grateful to have my name beside his.“

The track is the second of several remixes off her 2020 debut EP, The Day My Brain Broke. The first was a mix by FaltyDL of her single, “Cortex,” and the upcoming remixes will include new versions of other EP tracks by FWAR and jennylee of Warpaint.
The Day My Brain Broke documents a period of isolation (pre-Covid-19) and evolution as Daniela worked her way out of a destructive lifestyle. “There are a lot of underlying mental health things that intertwine everything together” says Daniela. The moniker Aunty Social is a tongue and cheek reference to when she would hole up alone inside and use music as a therapeutic aid to address her own struggles with mental health. Her talent and artistic abilities have already caught the attention of tastemaker outlets like Consequence of Sound, Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Collide, Ladygunn, Refinery 29, Vanyaland, Ghettoblaster and influential Spotify playlists like Indie Pop, Outliers and Fresh Finds.
