Nettwerk Congratulates Inuka Bacote-Capiga On Summer of Soul Oscar Win!

Nettwerk sends a huge congratulations to Inuka Bacote-Capiga on the Summer of Soul Oscar win for Best Documentary Feature! Bacote-Capiga, who has been Nettwerk’s esteemed music video commissioner for the past six years, is co-producer on the Questlove-directed documentary film that focuses on the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, which took place outdoors in Harlem’s Mount Morris Park, the same summer as Woodstock. Over 300,000 people attended the festival which included performances by artists like Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly and the Family Stone, B.B. King, and The Chambers Brothers, featuring the legendary Lester Chambers who is currently the vocalist of psychedelic soul group and Nettwerk recording artist Moonalice.

Summer of Soul previously won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award in the U.S. Documentary Competition at 2021 Sundance Film Festival. Bacote-Capiga also produced the feature The 40-Year-Old Version, which garnered her an Independent Spirit Award nomination, and co-executive produced the Daytime Emmy-winning LGBTQ series Eastsiders. In addition to her work with Nettwerk, she is the SVP Development and Production of Hot Sauce, the production company of actor Joy Bryant and writer- producer Samantha Taylor Pickett, and she serves as an affiliate of The Blackhouse Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for diverse content creators.
