Indie-pop artist Rosie Darling returns with new single “Lost On You” + music video via Nettwerk

March 3, 2023 BY Jason Currell

Boston-born, LA-based indie-pop artist Rosie Darling makes her triumphant return with “Lost On You” via Nettwerk. Accompanied by a music video directed by Laura-Lynn Petrick (girl in red, Weyes Blood), “Lost On You” is Rosie’s first single since the release of her Golden Age EP last summer.

“Lost On You” is an extremely personal yet therapeutic song that attempts at finding solace in a painful heartbreak. Produced with collaborator Justin Gammella (FINNEAS, Ashe) & Sweater Beats (Lizzo) and mixed by Yianni AP (Alexander 23, Jeremy Zucker), the track builds from a simple piano line with Rosie doubling on clear vocals to a mantra-filled anthemic outro repeating “I have all this love, but it’s lost on you.”

Rosie Darling shares this of her new single:

“This song is about grieving a loss. I think sometimes when things end there is still a lot of love there but just nowhere for it to go, and that can feel complicated and scary. I wrote this to help me sort through those feelings and I hope it reaches others to help them wherever they are in their process of grieving as well.”

The serene music video was shot in Washington state showcasing Rosie reflectively playing the piano in the snowy forest in the Olympic mountains. The visuals follow her at night with a lantern as she looks out at the pacific coast and tries to heal from the messy aftermath of heartbreak.

Of her music video, Rosie reveals:

“This video is special to me because we got to take a week to hang out and shoot in Washington state. It wasn’t a rushed day-long shoot, it was a beautiful time away where we could relax and slowly find beautiful spaces to capture imagery that best represented the song. My favorite parts are the shots in the snow. We were driving around and stumbled upon this snowy area. We decided to do some takes in it with the baby piano, which turned out incredible! It was so serendipitous because snow goes along with this song’s overall meaning. The snow acts as a blanket that can weigh you down and feel heavy. ‘Lost On You’ is about feeling weighed down by all this heaviness and loss, so I love that imagery.”

Rosie Darling kicked off 2023 supporting rising pop artist Ashley Kutcher on a 10-date trek with sold out shows in LA, NYC, Chicago, Boston, DC, and more. With more new music on the way, “Lost On You” marks a fresh chapter for Rosie as she looks towards expanding her sonic palette, refining her songwriting, and ultimately revealing her highly anticipated debut LP later this year.

About Rosie Darling:

Rosie Darling is quietly confident, exuberantly passionate, and creatively inclined to infinity. She’s the kind of anomaly who pushes pop music forward by uncompromisingly embracing her own artistic impulses and following them to unprecedented heights. It’s why the Boston-born and Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has effectively emerged as a phenomenon with tens of millions of streams and widespread praise. During 2021, her debut EP Coping kickstarted her stratospheric rise. The title-track lead single “Coping” amassed 50M+ Spotify streams, charting on 14 different Spotify Viral 50 charts, landing Top 20 on the Global Viral Chart, and garnering strong press support from the likes of Under The Radar, FLAUNT, PopMatters, EARMILK, and more.

A talented team of songwriters, producers, and engineers reached out from the onset, wanting to collaborate, including Justin Gammella (FINNEAS, Ashe), producer Andy Seltzer (Chelsea Cutler, Joan), mixer Michael Brauer (Coldplay, Florence and the Machine), and Joe Laporta (Halsey, Gracie Abrams). Rosie parlayed that momentum and began to set the stage for her follow-up EP Golden AgeRosie’s EP Coping leaned on the messier side of love, friendships, and heartbreak, while her 2022 EP Golden Age was steeped with big, pent-up feelings during the height of the pandemic. The collection of songs dealt with isolation amidst an increasingly digital world. It was paired up with her signature flowing melodies and gut-wrenching lyrics. It was lauded by outlets such as Wonderland, Ones To Watch, and more. Rosie has accumulated over 120M cumulative streams across her 2.7M+ Spotify monthly listeners.
