Billboard Charting Singer-Songwriter Paris Paloma Finds Closure in Enchanting New Single “yeti”

June 30, 2023 BY Jason Currell

UK singer-songwriter Paris Paloma releases her enchanting new single “yeti,” the anticipated follow-up to her break-out single “labour.” Featuring vocals from acclaimed indie singer/songwriter/producer Old Sea Brigade, the song offers a unique perspective on the transformative power of closure in a relationship. Check out the single, which pairs delicate lyricism and soul-stirring melodies, HERE and watch the official video HERE.

Guided by her captivating vocals and lyrical prowess, Paris takes listeners on an emotive journey through the complexities of human connection. “‘yeti’ is about the quiet, healing realization that comes with giving oneself closure after a relationship; when you’ve moved through a period of intense intertwinement – almost obsession – with another, and what feels like the vast chasm of time and space between that passion, and the point of indifference towards them that is reached in the healed-over aftermath. It’s not a spiteful, false indifference, nor a bitter apathy, but a breathing-out of sorts, when those feelings let themselves out quietly in the night, without saying goodbye or marking the day. The gentle accompanying vocals from Ben Cramer of Old Sea Brigade completes the presence of both parties, who share in this realization, so these two people become eerily connected in their acceptance of how far apart they have grown,” elaborates Paris.

This past spring, Paris’ single “labour” ignited a wildfire of praise, catapulting her onto the U.K. Official Chart at #29 and seeing its Billboard chart debuts, including #13 Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, #13 Digital Song Sales#12 Emerging Artists and #17 Bubbling Under Hot 100. The song garnered over 1.5 millions streams in its first 24 hours of release, and reached 1 MillioYouTube views within a few days of release. Paris was also selected by YouTube to be their featured Trending Artist on the Rise and was recently named Billboard’s May 2023 Chartbreaker

“labour” first started gaining momentum on TikTok due to fans’ rapturous responses to the song’s lyrics, garnering millions of views, uses and shares. The attention spurs from the powerful message behind the track. “‘labour’ takes us inside a relationship where the speaker’s self-worth is once again reduced, like many people who find themselves in draining relationships with undeserving people. Taking on all the emotional labour. But it is a breaking point… it is the first time the speaker acknowledges the toxicity of these dynamics, and the song is about the escape from that relationship,” Paloma says.

Most recently, Paris released a stirring live rendition of “labour,” filmed at London’s legendary RAK Studios and complete with haunting strings and backup vocals by London Contemporary Voices, an all-female choir. Watch  HERE

Hot off the heels of her first U.S. shows at Bonnaroo and Summerfest, Paris will be performing at major festivals all across Europe and the U.K. this summer and fall. For more information and to purchase tickets to her upcoming shows, click here.

Originally hailing from Ashbourne, Derbyshire, Paris Paloma channels the experience of womanhood into her songwriting, speaking to the female experience, and to the human experience at large, exploring themes of grief, love, death, and power. Her songwriting reads like poetry, drawing inspiration from figures throughout mythology, art history and the Romantics. Ranging from the tender and heartbreaking to the sublimely aggressive and vengeful, her ethereal sound takes influences from dark pop, folk, and indie genres; creating a magical discography that evokes something primal, powerful, and innately feminine.
