Rising alt-rock star Hana Lili announces new EP, shares hard-hitting single “Ur Girlfriend’s a Lawyer” and EU support run with Mouth Culture

Rising Welsh pop punk and alt-rock artist Hana Lili announces her self-titled EP Hana, due for release on Nettwerk in April and today shares the playful, cathartic and hard hitting single “Ur Girlfriend’s a Lawyer.”

“Ur Girlfriend’s a Lawyer” leans into Hana’s heavier instincts with razor-sharp guitars and cleansing chaos.

Hana adds; “Ur Girlfriend’s a Lawyer” is a song about this guy who had a girlfriend, but he was overstepping the line of boundaries. I wrote this song a while after the situation happened, and I think as time went on, I just thought more about the situation and the girlfriend involved… and you kind of realise how much of an idiot he was. I wanted the song to be full of energy and unforgiving.

“It’s like I envision them listening to this song. And if she knows everything, then they’re in her apartment, laughing over how silly it all is, thinking it’s silly I ever wrote a song about it. But if she doesn’t know, I guess it’s my way of being like, hey… you should tell her.”

Hana is a fearless and deeply personal EP which sees Hana Lili distilling lived experience into its rawest, most honest form. Written and co-produced by Hana alongside Mark Vallance (Tom Walker), Ben Beetham (Kid Kapichi, Hot Wax), Mike Horner (Karen Dio) and Chris Ostler (Black Honey), the EP explores uncertainty, self-reflection and the fleeting moments of peace that shape who we are.

Blending introspection with rebellion, Hana channels the raw energy of 90s and early 00s alt-rock, drawing inspiration from the likes of Alanis Morissette, Radiohead and Gwen Stefani, while embracing the emotional candour of modern alt-pop. Across the EP, Hana balances quiet vulnerability with explosive catharsis, crafting songs that feel both intimate and defiant.

Lead single “Sick of Myself” sets the tone as a high-octane alt-rock anthem capturing racing thoughts and emotional numbness, offering unapologetic permission to feel without explanation. Elsewhere, the delicate piano-led “Undress Me” lays bare the quiet devastation of love slipping away. Closing track “Complicated” unravels tangled emotions into something powerful and commanding, ending the EP on a note of hard-won clarity.

“For this EP I wanted to be a lot more honest with myself. I’ve always been honest and true to myself in my lyricism, but I don’t think I ever truly let myself just be me, so this EP feels more personal than previous music I’ve released, however it seems life is ever changing, and how we deal with our circumstances and our emotions also changes from my experience. I’ve learned over this last year that I’m not so good at feeling my emotions, which in turn build up into this anxiety. I’ve been allowing myself the freedom of introspective honesty, It’s been really valuable.

It felt like this body of work just represents me and where I’m at right now. I just wanted to go back to basics, on the artworks, the name and really allow myself to know that I’m enough as I am. I don’t need to overdo or have anything else overshadow it. Naming it Hana felt like the most natural way to bring all of those feelings and thoughts together.” explains Hana.

Raised in Wales and a first-language Welsh speaker, Hana’s work is informed by a deep sense of place and cultural pride, shaped in part by her roots in the Welsh Eisteddfod tradition. With Hana, she cements herself as a compelling new voice in alt-pop — one that bridges intimacy and universality with striking honesty.
