David Wimbish & The Collection Releases Self-Titled Album

July 11, 2025 BY Emma Orland

After a decade of captivating live shows and four beloved albums with his band The Collection, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist David Wimbish releases his self-titled album David Wimbish & The Collection today via Nettwerk. Produced by Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Trevor Hall), the eight-track album marks both a full-circle return and a daring leap forward in David’s next chapter. Listen HERE

In pursuing this return to his roots, Wimbish and Altman recorded the album over four months in Nashville, TN.  For the first time, David cut songs live in the studio accompanied by a rotating supporting cast of studio musicians, and it enabled him to conjure raw emotions on the tracks, old and new. The result: a collection of anthemic folk-pop songs that feel intimate, expansive, and emotionally resonant, revisiting fan favorites – “Medication (Deserve To Be Well)” and “You (Taste Like Wine)” – with new sonic weight and debuting two new original tracks.

Speaking of the album, David says, “I always just want people to feel like they’re not alone. On these songs, I’m tapping into some deeply vulnerable topics and spaces, like relationships, self-loathing, depression and fear. My hope is people will feel very seen and maybe even held.”

David Wimbish & The Collection isn’t just a reinvention—it’s a reclamation. What began as a solo project over a decade ago transformed into the full-band experience fans came to know and love. Now, with reverence for the past and a renewed sense of purpose, Wimbish returns —stripping back the noise, leaning into honesty, and placing the song itself at the center.

Wimbish’s storytelling continues to shine as he bridges his past with the present. With previous praise from outlets like American Songwriter, Parade, and NPR’s Tiny Desk Judges’ Picks, and tours alongside RIPE, Tall Heights, and Sammy Rae & Friends, Wimbish is now embracing a creative renaissance—and inviting listeners into his most personal work yet.
