On Saturday, Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell broke the golden buzzer rule, pressing it for the second time this series, as dance group Unity performed an emotional routine to ‘The Village’ by singer/songwriter Wrabel (listen here).
Following the moving performance (watch a short clip here), the track has flown up the UK iTunes chart, hitting the Top 15 so far.
Celebrated for his high-profile collaborations/writing credits with P!NK, Celeste, Kesha, Ellie Goulding, Freya Ridings, Saint Harrison, Louis Tomlinson, Ella Henderson and more, Wrabel released poignant track ‘The Village’ in 2017, which he wrote in relation to changes in the federal protection of trans students within public schools in the US. The compelling song, which has amassed over 100M streams, has been adopted by the LGBTQ+ community, gaining viral success through TikTok and transforming it into an anthem of resilience. In March, Wrabel released a stunning live piano version of ‘The Village’ in honour and celebration of International Transgender Day of Visibility – watch the captivating live rendition here.
Wrabel continues to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community through his breathtakingly eloquent and personal songwriting, as highlighted in his latest release ‘Turn Up The Love’ (listen here), the anthem for this year’s AT&T Turn Up the Love campaign.
