Welsh alt-rockers HIMALAYAS share new single “Cave Paintings” today, Watch the video now

after a string of headline dates and supporting the mighty Foo Fighters at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium back in June, Welsh titans HIMALAYAS have today shared a new single titled ‘Cave Paintings’. Listen here and below.

Produced by Pete Hutchings (Skindred, Nothing But Thieves, Foals), the track brings rockin’ big riffs, chugging bass and sharp drumming. One for fans of Royal Blood and Sick Love, ‘Cave Paintings‘ calls out to the misfits and mosh pits – and continues to build HIMALAYAS as a rock band to be reckoned with…

“’Cave Paintings’ comes from the idea that our development and evolution may have gone too far, even to the point of destruction,” the band says. “It suggests that the complexity of modern life and the prospect of an uncertain future may be even less desirable than earlier and less civilised times, but that we have kept many of the worst parts of our past and have continued to make them worse instead of learning from them.”

The band initially returned with new music way back in March this year, in the form of their anthemic single, ‘V.O.V’. The track was co-written with none other than the legendary AC/DC frontman, Brian Johnson who said, “When I was played their recordings, I immediately thought they were the perfect band for the song; the attack they bring to V.O.V is musical violence, brilliant!!” The lyrics were gifted to the band via a mutual friend of them all, following Brian hearing the quartet’s music. Listen to ‘V.O.V’  here.

Worthy of featuring in the soundtrack of a cinematic masterpiece, ‘V.O.V was produced by the sought-after Dan Lancaster (Blink-182, Muse, Bring Me The Horizon), at Miloco studios. This was another huge tick for the HIMALAYAS bucket list. Directed by Ted Clark of London Films, the video can be seen here.

Last year saw HIMALAYAS release their debut album, From Hell To Herewhich has racked up 14.5 million streams on Spotify alone, where the band have surpassed 84 million overall streams. The 12-track album, mixed by the GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Sardy (Royal Blood, Rage Against The Machine, Oasis), features previously released singles including Leave This Place, album title track From Hell To HereInto The TrapOut Of The Dark And Into The Light and Alone.

HIMALAYAS have garnered fantastic support across radio and have received spins on BBC Radio 1’s Rock show from Daniel P Carter and Alyx Holcombe, and from BBC Radio 1’s Future Alternative host, Nels Hylton, who declared them “heirs to the indie rock throne”. The band have also previously been added to playlists such as Walk Like A Badass (2.3 million+ likes) and The Rock List (793k+ likes), on Spotify.
