Watch The Veils Perform “Axolotl” On ‘Twin Peaks: The Return”; New EP Out September 8

August 21, 2017 BY Nettwerk

Last night, The Veils became the latest band to appear at the “Roadhouse” in 2017’s revival of David Lynch’s groundbreaking series Twin Peaks, joining an impressive list of musicians like Nine Inch Nails, Sharon Van Etten, Au Revoir Simone, The Chromatics and Lissie. The band, led by Finn Andrews, performed standout single “Axolotl” from their latest album Total Depravity (out now via Nettwerk Records).  Watch the “Axolotl” performance on Twin Peaks above.

“Axolotl” will be part of the two upcoming Twin Peaks soundtracks to be released on September 8 (via Rhino Entertainment).  Music has always played a central role in Lynch’s work and helped to create the dreamlike nature of both the original and the 2017 return of Twin Peaks.  All the songs that appear on the soundtracks will be revealed gradually over the course of the season’s 18 episodes.

The Veils and David Lynch have history together. Over a two-year period, Total Depravity was co-produced by El-P (of Run The Jewels), Adam ‘Atom’ Greenspan (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band Of Skulls) and Andrews at Estúdios Sá da Bandeira in Portugal, Konk Studios in London, El-P’s Upstate New York studio and David Lynch’s home studio in Los Angeles.

Also on September 8, The Veils will release Swimming With The Crocodiles EP (via Nettwerk Records) – beautiful, haunting, acoustic versions of songs from Total Depravity, plus a moving cover of David Bowie’s “Where Are We Now?” recorded in Andrews’ native New Zealand.  Watch a live recording of “Swimming With The Crocodiles” here:
