Vraell Shares Impeccable New Single “quattro”
September 23, 2024 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
London-based guitarist, composer and singer songwriter Vraell (aka Alessio Scozzaro) shares his stunning new single “quattro”.
The track is a gorgeous, luscious piece blending subtle electronics, modern classical textures and delicate guitar motifs to create a rich arrangement with a pointillistic attention to detail, recorded and produced by Paul Savage (Mogwai, Arab Strap, Aidan Moffat) in his Glasgow studio.
Vraell explains, “this piece is about rebirth and renewal. It represents that little transformation we all look for. For me, it’s no different, and recently I have been drifting back to my Sicilian roots and trying to be proud of my heritage after years of trying to ignore it. That’s why I wanted to call it ‘Quattro’. I wanted to honour my mother tongue and what better way to do it than through a piece about rebirth?
“Four has so many meanings and significance to us as humans. It represents symmetry, simplicity – and above else the wholeness of all things. There are 4 seasons, 4 weeks in a month, 4 points of the compass, and 4 phases of the moon. As humans, it’s a very interconnected number to how we navigate everyday life, ourselves and the outside world. But it’s worth noting that this piece also does not mean finality, and rebirth takes a few times before each side of us falls into place. I think I need a lot more years before I have that feeling of wholeness, but this piece is the start, the realisation of our potential.”

Vraell makes music in the quietness of spring and summertime dusk. His musicdelves into the darkness and beauty of healing, painting an intimate picture with his deft guitar skill at the centre, highlighting its presence and his deep understanding of the instrument. He began playing as a child, studying classical music. That led him to begin writing his own works that infuses indie folk, like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver into his picking style, while simultaneously drawing on the rich sound of composers like Ólafur Arnalds, Max Richter and Portico Quartet. Across a series of previous EPs, 2022’s “Smoke” EP, 2023’s “Walls”, and the most recent EP from early-2024, “Notes From an Early Departure”, Vraell has demonstrates his immaculate genre-blending ethos for composition and performance, utilising the versatility and adaptability of the guitar to trace a trajectory through his personal growth.
His music celebrates the guitar’s malleability. Scozzaro sees the instrument as something that can hold the universe within it and he unravels it all; “Guitar has endless possibilities,” he says. “I love figuring it out.”
