Vök Shares Synth-Pop Track “Miss Confidence”
April 22, 2022 BY Penny Palmer
Icelandic trio Vök have shared one of their strongest new tracks yet with their buoyant and captivating new single “Miss Confidence”, which follows their recent releases “Lose Control” and “Stadium” and is out now via Nettwerk.
“Miss Confidence” is an upbeat and immediate track with an atmospheric disco-tinged melody and empowering lyrics about a woman who puts on a confident front yet is fearful inside. Margrét says;
“Miss Confidence” is about wearing a mask. It is yet another chapter in our story continuing from our “Feeding on a Tragedy EP” released last year. At this point in time, our character is putting on a front and wearing a mask of confidence. On the outside, she appears bold and fearless, but on the inside, she is broken and afraid. It’s the perfect stranger – Miss Confidence.”

New track “Miss Confidence”follows recent singles “Lose Control” and “Stadium“ alongside the tracks “Running Wild”, “No Coffee at the Funeral”, “Skin” and “Lost in the Weekend”, all of which made up the band’s unique and lushly layered EP Feeding on a Tragedy. Recorded in their Reykjavík studios, the EP was the follow-up to their acclaimed 2019 album In the Dark, which was written and recorded by the band in collaboration with producer James Earp (Bipolar Sunshine, Fickle Friends, Lewis Capaldi).
Throughout their catalog, the band has earned praise for “their graceful edge” (CLASH) and “sneaky Maximalism” (New York Times), as the “Icelandic band of your dreams” (VICE). Vök continues to cement their position as one of the most exciting and forward-thinking alternative bands right now.
Vök are Margrét Rán (vocals), Einar Stef (bass/guitar) and Bergur (drums).
