UK Alt-Rock Band bôa Shares the Celestial “Beautiful & Broken” + Sells Out North American Fall Tour
May 3, 2024 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
The exceptional British Alt-rock band bôa returns with a celestial second single, “Beautiful & Broken,” via Nettwerk. Since the resurfacing of the band’s 1998 single “Duvet” on TikTok, the song has soundtracked nearly 300,000 videos and gathered over 450M streams on Spotify. The song’s resurgence with a new generation of fans inspired the band to come back together to write and record new music with a renewed sense of passion. To celebrate the release of “Beautiful & Broken,” bôa is excited to announce a new U.K./Ireland leg of their tour this fall, following their already sold-out North American stretch, which includes Los Angeles’ The Fonda and Brooklyn’s Warsaw. A full list of tour dates is below.

Recorded with producer Chris Zane (Jack Antonoff, Passion Pit, St. Lucia), the string-laden folk-pop “Beautiful & Broken” details the liberation of finding peace in your flaws. Lead singer and songwriter Jasmine Rodgers (daughter of Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers) says, “Some of the lyric-writing has come from a place of me being mixed race and a female in a world where I didn’t feel particularly comfortable. I’m still always reviewing and assessing that. It’s about a really dark time in my brain, talking to the darkness just before you go to sleep when you can’t sleep and are trying to find comfort.” Now, more polished than ever and two decades later, “Beautiful & Broken” has arrived and is available on all digital and streaming platforms HERE.
bôa first introduced this new body of work with lead single “Walk With Me,” which premiered via Nylon. A bright, expansive song enveloped in the optimism of starting over again, the track is technically about meeting someone new after a past breakup, but also serves as a welcoming, arena-ready call to getting the band back together.
The band’s extended hiatus begane in the mid-2000s and brought no hostility, no dejection, no gripes. The band members simply lived life. Vocalist-guitarist Jasmine Rodgers studied zoology, alongside releasing solo music. Bassist Alex Caird threw himself into art, painting and teaching music. And drummer Lee Sullivan ensconced himself in family life, while writing and producing music. All the while, they kept in touch, and their time apart gave them a heap of life experiences for a new chapter of music.
