The Weepies Premiere “Fancy Things” Video, Launch North American Tour

June 18, 2015 BY Nettwerk

The Weepies have unveiled a playful new video via Paste Magazine for the song “Fancy Things” from latest album Sirens. Directed by Brad Aldous, the split screen video portrays average people living mundane lives versus embracing their inner dance-filled and expressive natures. “Fancy Things” might (pleasantly) surprise Weepies fans as it’s a bit of a departure from the band’s signature sound. Of the song’s inspiration, Steve Tannen tells Paste, “Sometimes we try to write in other people’s styles. For this we were trying to write like Cole Porter with his ‘pop wisdom’ sayings: things that sound wise or poetic but might not actually mean anything. ‘You will meet him on a train,’ or ‘You’ve got to take a chance if you want romance.’ We tried to do a Cole Porter song, and we might not have quite gotten there, but even falling short of Cole Porter can get you somewhere.”

No Trouble” is currently featured on NPR’sHeavy Rotation: 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing.” Listen To “No Trouble” Here:

Tannen and Deb Talan have launched their North American tour in support of Sirens with their full band of talented musicians, including famed drummer Pete Thomas, Johnny Flaugher on bass, Meg Toohey on electric guitar and Brad Gordon on keys. All dates are below.
