The Paper Kites To Release Sophomore Album ‘twelvefour’ (Out August 28); Listen To “Electric Indigo”

June 24, 2015 BY Nettwerk

Australian outfit The Paper Kites return with their sophomore album twelvefour on August 28 via Nettwerk Records.

Written entirely between midnight and four in the morning, twelvefour is a concept record that explores the theory that an artist’s creative peak lays within these hours.

For two sleepless months lead singer/guitarist Sam Bentley worked, reversing his sleep patterns and penning 30 songs in his home studio. “I got to the end and thought, I’m never doing that again,” Sam laughs. Lyrically, twelvefour isn’t about some sort of somnambulist or insomniac blues, however. “You’re always more melancholy during those hours,” Sam points out.

Out now, the band shares album opener and first track from twelvefour, “Electric Indigo.”

Listen To “Electric Indigo”:

Achieving a bigger and bolder sound, the group travelled to Seattle to record with Grammy-nominated producer Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Manchester Orchestra, Fleet Foxes, The Shins).  As such, twelvefour is lush and intimate: think drum machines, dirtier guitars mixed with soulful, smooth synth moment. Plentiful late night vibes.

twelvefour follows their debut album States that delivered focal track “Young” and the critically heralded music video that was praised by Yahoo! Music, Mashable, Huffington Post, MTV, Wall Street Journal, College Humor, Stereogum and more. The band has built a healthy profile with over 150,000 Facebook fans, and a whopping 20 million views and counting on YouTube.  The Paper Kites is Sam Bentley (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Christina Lacy (lead vocals, guitar, keys, mandolin), David Powys (vocals, guitar, banjo, lap steel), Josh Bentley (drums, percussion) and Sam Rasmussen (bass, synths).

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
