The Franklin Electric Share New Single “Ten Steps Back”; New Album ‘This Time I See It’ Out September 24

August 13, 2021 BY Nettwerk

Today, Montreal based indie collective The Franklin Electric share new single “Ten Steps Back,” from their newly announced album This Time I See It, out September 24, 2021 on Nettwerk. The rollicking tune captures the Sisyphean sentiment of “the more you try to get ahead, the more behind you end up.” Frontman Jon Matte reckons with this philosophy in the self-reflecting chorus, Ten steps back, The hardest pill to swallow. Lost in what I believe.

“Ten Steps Back” and previous single “Why You Gotta Be,” will be featured on the forthcoming LP and were recorded by Matte and producer John Rahm (Frazey Ford, Joshua Hyslop, Jon Bryant) at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver. “Everything happened in synchronicity,” says Matte. “All of this gave me an incredible amount of inspiration.”  Listen + watch “Ten Steps Back” below.

Additionally, The Franklin Electric head back on the road with performances in Quebec starting Friday, October 15th at Théâtre Lionel-Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse, with more dates in British Columba, Manitoba, Alberta, and Ontario through November and December. Since emerging in 2014 with their debut album This Is How I Let You Down, The Franklin Electric have logged nearly 400 shows, canvassing the world alongside everyone from Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard to Edward Sharpe and City and Colour. Along the way, 2017’s Blue Ceilings marked a major milestone. Not only did the record produce favorites such as “I Know The Feeling” and “Someone Just Like You,” but it also led to a nomination at the 2018 JUNO® awards in the category of “Breakthrough Group of the Year.”

Stay tuned for more music and updates in the coming weeks.
