The Franklin Electric Share New Album ‘This Time I See It’ + Tour Dates on Sale Now!

Today, Montreal based indie collective The Franklin Electric share their fourth full-length album, This Time I See It, which weaves together a tapestry of forgiveness over the course of ten songs. A dynamic story unfolds amid tender guitar picking, soothing synths, and cinematic undertones.
“I hope each listener gets a different perspective from this music,” says frontman Jon Matte. “The beauty of art is it’s open to interpretation. I know what these songs have done for me. I’m grateful to share them because I know where they came from inside and the lessons they brought me. Many of them are moments that passed by. I created an album of those moments. There’s a sense of freedom, forgiveness, healing, and letting inspiration through in its purest form and accepting the changes that are unfolding without trying to control them—but it’s up to you.”
Cathartic messages can be heard on singles “Ten Steps Back” and “Why You Gotta Be,” as Matte opens up with honesty and vulnerability. In making the new record, he turned to producer John Rahm (Frazey Ford, Joshua Hyslop, Jon Bryant) to help bring the songs to life. The bulk of the recording was done in Vancouver at Afterlife Studios and finished up from a small creative town in Mexico over zoom recording sessions with producer/mixer Miro Mackie (Cold War Kids, Dirty Projectors, Mallrat), who added in the final touches from Los Angeles.
Since emerging in 2014 with their debut album This Is How I Let You Down, The Franklin Electric have logged nearly 400 shows, canvassing the world alongside everyone from Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard to Edward Sharpe and City and Colour. Along the way, 2017’s Blue Ceilings marked a major milestone. Not only did the record produce favorites such as “I Know The Feeling” and “Someone Just Like You,” but it also led to a nomination at the 2018 JUNO® awards in the category of “Breakthrough Group of the Year.”
