The East Pointers are Back with “Anniversary” – A Folk-Pop Anthem
February 3, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
JUNO Award-winning Canadian contemporary folk group, The East Pointers return with a brand-new single, ‘Anniversary,‘ released today on Nettwerk. This is their first new music since 2023 and marks the beginning of a significant new chapter.
‘Anniversary’ is a song about overcoming the hurdles of addiction while looking forward with fresh eyes and a new perspective. This celebration showcases the band’s take on “modern folk-pop,” which has brought audiences to dancefloors since its infancy in 2015.
“‘Anniversary’ is a song about how making one positive decision can change the rest of your life. 11 years ago on his birthday, our late band member Koady Chaisson made some major changes to his life to improve his mental health, one of which was becoming sober. This is a song to celebrate fresh starts, milestones, and the wins we have along the way, big or small,” Jake Charron explains.
A heartfelt track characterized by a stunning variety of instrumentation, a steady, driving beat, and a shimmering chorus of backing vocals, ‘Anniversary’ conveys a hopeful desire to look ahead to a brighter future and its silver linings rather than allowing ourselves to feel trapped by the past.
Expanding on the single, Tim Chaisson explains, “When Jake and I sat down to write, ‘Anniversary’ was the first song that came out—it was as if Koady was in the room with us, it flowed so fast. We want this song to give anybody permission to give themselves a pat on the back for any of the wins or positive changes in their life. A celebration you continue to honor, especially when times get tough.”
‘Anniversary’ is available on all streaming platforms HERE.
