The Ballroom Thieves Share New Single “Do Something”; Tour Dates With Phillip Phillips Announced

One year after 2017’s presidential inauguration, The Ballroom Thieves partner with Baeble Music to premiere “Do Something,” a sly takedown of the current political climate. With a modern spin on classic Doo-Wop, the track is elevated by Calin Peters’ raw, impassioned lead vocal and complemented by her bandmates’ (Martin Earley, Devin Mauch) full harmonies.
“’Do Something’ is a letter to our con-man president. As artists, we’re sometimes told that our jobs are to entertain and to keep politics and personal opinions out of our shows. But, that feels misguided. We’re humans, small business owners, citizens, and we, too, are meandering through uncharted territory as our country divides itself over basic human rights, money, and one man’s outrageously out of touch ideas and disastrous choices. We will always believe that free speech is a tool to bring people together in the pursuit of truth,” says Peters.
“In the wake of last year’s presidential inauguration, it took me less than an hour to feverishly scribble down this plea. It was at a time when we all attempted to endure this new, schismatic administration. We tried to be forbearing and hopeful, to watch and wait.
“Now a year has passed and it’s apparent that the patience we once championed is wholly wasted on an egomaniacal president who cares for nothing but his own enrichment. As such, the meaning behind this song has shifted with the times and it now stands as a letter for you, to him, from us. Patience has become a virtue of yesterday, and time’s up.”
To celebrate the release of “Do Something,” The Ballroom Thieves kick off their headlining tour with a sold-out show at Boston’s historic Old South Meeting House. One of country’s first museums of American history, the Old South Meeting House is where colonists gathered to challenge British rule in the years leading to the American Revolution. It remains a place where unprecedented numbers of people engage in debate and discourse, continuing its commitment to the American tradition of civic dialogue via provocative events.
Following the sold-out Boston show, the band will travel across the country bringing a synthesis of folk, pop, country and indie rock sensibilities to fans across 20+ states. In February, The Ballroom Thieves head west with support from label-mates The Harmaleighs for a slew dates in the Midwest and East Coast. When the headlining dates wrap, the band will join Platinum-selling singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips for the remainder of spring.

About The Ballroom Thieves
The Ballroom Thieves fought through a year of tribulations with their sophomore album, 2016’s Deadeye, as their shield and sword. Only through continuing to write and perform together were guitarist Martin Earley, cellist Calin Peters, and drummer Devin Mauch able to fend off their darker days. While the skies may not be completely clear, the path ahead is. That pack mentality pervades all aspects of the upcoming EP from which “Do Something” (and their Nettwerk debut single “Only Lonely”) stems. More details on the EP are forthcoming.
