SYML Shares Video For “Clean Eyes”

November 8, 2018 BY Nettwerk

“‘Clean Eyes’ is an ultra-catchy return, with that chugging bass line underpinning some superb songwriting, essentially rooted in indie rock but with some pop leanings.” – Clash

“Sounding like the best song The Killers never released, the Seattle native’s latest single is an upbeat synth-pop track with an anthemic chorus…one of 2018’s best pop songs…” – Idolator

“Engaging…a voice that embodies comfort and kindness.” – NPR

Following a fall headlining tour that had him playing to packed crowds across the county, Seattle artist and producer Brian Fennell, better known as SYML, is excited to share his ingenious video for the latest single, “Clean Eyes.” It’s a sticky, anthemic track that showcases his ability to write and produce an indie-pop song while staying true to his emotive lyric style and heart-wrenching vocal range.

Speaking about the making of the video, Fennell says, “We shot this video in one continuous shot, so it took a full day of rehearsal and planning to get it right. It also took a ton of trust and getting to work again with Gavin made this video happen. He was able to capture the grit and darkness of the song, all while making me feel completely comfortable in front of the camera.

WATCH & SHARE “CLEAN EYES”:

Director and collaborator Gavin Michael Booth, who previously made the videos for “Where’s My Love”, “The War” and “Body,” explains, “The double real-time experience in ‘Clean Eyes’ represents one man’s effort to find a new way of seeing the world. Sometimes to find new perspective, we must loose our vision first.

SYML is currently working on his debut album for 2019. Stay tuned for more info to come soon.
