SYML Shares New Video, #36 at Alternative Radio

March 28, 2018 BY Nettwerk

NPR’s The Austin 100

“To a room of hypnotized guests he flaunted an effortless falsetto, playing “Body” and “Wildfire” off his new EP” – Billboard

“one of the artists to watch in 2018” – Rolling Stone

“…Fennell is able to capture everything from atmospheric electronics to beautifully clean vocals…” – A Music Blog, Yea?

SYML shared the video for “Body” across the globe yesterday with features on Rolling Stone (Italy), A Music Blog, Yea? (Canada), Clash (UK), MusikPlease (France), DansendeBeren (Belgium) and Kulturnews (GSA). The video is a ‘short circuit-esque’ love story shown through the longing eyes of a futuristic housekeeping robot. When asked about the song, Brian Fennell (SYML), explained, “’Body’ is a desperate awakening to the reality that we all have internal battles. It’s about what we do with that realization. Either we continue to stay in that battle, or we let it go for something or someone better.” “Body” is off of SYML’s In My Body EP, which came out in January and is the follow up to his debut Hurt For Me EP.

SYML’s song “Where’s My Love” (over 130 million streams) is prominently featured in the trailer for the upcoming film Adrift, which stars Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies, Divergent) and Sam Claflin (Hunger Games, Me Before You). The song is also moving up the Alternative Radio Chart, reaching #36 this week after being added to influential Los Angeles station Alt 98.7 as well as hometown Seattle station KNDD.

Following a sold-out U.S. & European tour earlier this year and a hugely successful debut run at SXSW, SYML is excited to announce today that on April 26th he will be performing at The Music Box in San Diego as part of 91X’s Inspired By Music Concert Series. One dollar of every ticket sold from the series will be dedicated to the fund helping to support music education in schools.

From his basement recording studio in the small town of Issaquah, WA outside Seattle, Brian Fennell began to write and record songs under the name SYML, which means simple in Welsh. Adopted and not knowing his history or connection to his Welsh roots, many of these songs are influenced by the complex feelings that come from unknown lineage.
