Maui-born singer and Willie Nelson protégé Lily Meola bolsters sharp songwriting with a mix of country twang, Americana atmosphere, and hook-driven pop on her new EP Heartbreak Rodeo. Listen HERE.
Recorded in Nashville with collaborators Luke Niccoli, Lukas Nelson, Ben West, and Davis Naish, the EP finds Meloa turning her personal experience with heartache and hurt into something universal. “Each song I write is like a therapy session for me,” she says. “Making music is the way I respond to whatever is happening to me, and my goal is to help people feel a little less alone, whether they’re going through a breakup or grieving the loss of someone.”
Lily Meola is excited to announce her EP release show on August 27th at Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA, where she will be performing the new music in full to fans for the first time. The rest of the U.S. can catch her on tour with Wild Rivers starting September 22nd in Chicago and wrapping on October 12th in San Diego. Raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii, Lily Meola blurs the borderlines between genre and geography on Heartbreak Rodeo. It’s a record rooted in sharp songwriting and Meola’s organic American music, laced with country twang, Americana atmosphere, and hook-driven pop.
Meola has been crafting that signature sound for years. One of her earliest fans was Willie Nelson, who went on to work with Meola on the road and in his critically-acclaimed album To All The Girls…. Other mentors included Grammy-winning producer Bob Rock, chart-topping country singer Jamey Johnson, and songwriting coach Jackson Browne.
Two years before Heartbreak Rodeo‘s release, Meola received a standing ovation and golden buzzer for her show-stealing appearance on America’s Got Talent. Her mother had recently passed away, and her death inspired Meola’s emotionally-charged performance of the song “Daydream.” The track reached the Top Viral Charts in 27 countries and landed her shows alongside artists like Ray Lamontagne and Imagine Dragons. Now, with the release of her new EP Heartbreak Rodeo, Lily Meola rides on.
