Sidney shares new single “long haul”; debut EP “what if it ends?” out February 27 via Nettwerk

Melbourne indie-pop artist Sidney today shares her new single “long haul”, the final preview of her forthcoming debut EP what if it ends?, due out February 27 via Nettwerk.

Written in the early stages of a relationship, “long haul” captures the quiet weight that can lie beneath optimism – the desire to believe in something while already sensing the cost. Built on driving indie-pop production and drawing sonic inspiration from the likes of Holly Humberstone and The Japanese House, the chorus mirrors that emotional momentum – sticking with you on repeat, echoing the cycle of showing up again and again because you still believe in it.

Of the track, Sidney shares, “I was on the road all the time doing what I loved, but my partner couldn’t be there with me. The distance caused tension, and I felt torn between chasing my career and showing up for the person I loved. ‘long haul’ was my way of saying: I’m here, I’m choosing you, and I’m in this for real.

“long haul” sits at the emotional crossroads of what if it ends?, a record shaped by the tension between hope and uncertainty – devotion and doubt, ambition and attachment, staying and leaving, holding on and letting go. Across the EP’s seven tracks, Sidney explores the delicate space between wanting things to last and wondering if they should.

Sidney shares, “This EP is built around one question: what if it ends? I’ve asked the question time and time again, with a different meaning each time; over coffee with friends, crying into my mother’s arms, or journalling about an exciting new chapter; it’s been there throughout. Every song in this EP captures the tension of the hopeful optimism and fearful dread I have carried around with me when navigating my twenties. What if the ending is actually where the best part of my life begins? That duality – fear vs freedom, holding on vs letting go – runs through every song.

“I wrote the majority of this EP a year prior to breaking up with my now ex-fiancé; I was so fixated on making the ‘right’ choice. So, each track sits in the tension of two truths at once: wanting to make it work but knowing it’s not right, trying to be present while already grieving, hoping things will last while secretly wondering if they should. The EP moves through that emotional push and pull, from denial and devotion all the way to acceptance and clarity.”

Sidney has built an international following as one of the most sought-after wedding singers in the world – flying from the US to Tuscany to Asia, her voice soundtracking the most intimate moments of other people’s lives. But behind those performances was her own story of love and heartbreak: a breakup just before her own wedding. That moment became the spark for her next chapter, turning her extraordinary voice inward to tell her own story of heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery for the first time.

Her viral covers of “Truly Madly Deeply”, “Simply the Best”, and “Adore U” have drawn over 13 million views across TikTok and Instagram, with “Truly Madly Deeply” alone inspiring more than 20,900 TikTok videos and 2.8 million Spotify streams. Her live presence has flourished, too – sharing stages with Tiny Habits, Angus & Julia Stone, The Rubens, Gretta Ray, and Mia Wray.

At the heart of Sidney’s artistry is her voice – pure, captivating, and deeply familiar. It carries the honesty of someone navigating their twenties in real time: love that changes you, heartbreak that builds resilience, and, through it all, learning how to keep choosing yourself. After years spent connecting with audiences online through covers, performances, and raw honesty, Sidney is ready to tell her own story on her own terms.
