Sammy Rae & The Friends Share Soulful Summer Single + Video “For The Time Being”
July 15, 2022 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
As they continue making the summer festival rounds, Brooklyn collective Sammy Rae & The Friends share their brand new single “For The Time Being (feat. Will Leet).” Produced by Grammy-winning producer Neal Pogue (Tyler the Creator, Janelle Monae, Doja Kat), it’s a soulful pop groove about finding gratitude even in the toughest of times. The song is available across digital retailers tomorrow, July 15, HERE.
Frontwoman Sammy Rae says, “‘For The Time Being’ stands apart from the typical dense arrangement, party-soundtrack energy of the Sammy Rae & The Friends catalog. We think about this song as a meditation; a repetitive mantra about gratitude for the present moment and awareness that all things, good and bad, will soon pass. It features cajon instead of full drum kit, and acoustic guitar, flute and bass clarinet, and a feature from guitarist Will Leet on lead vocals.”

Following a wildly successful spring tour, including sold-out gigs at NYC’s Terminal 5, two nights at the Royale Boston, 9:30 Club in DC, Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia and more, Sammy Rae & The Friends recently announced an extensive fall headline tour starting October 1st in Austin and wrapping up November 17 in Phoenix. The dates see the band tripling their venue sizes in some markets and playing back-to-back nights at both Seattle’s Showbox and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre.
The band are currently enjoying the summer festival circuit, with recent appearances at the High Sierra Music Festival, Chicago Pride Parade, 4848 Festival and Levitate Music & Arts Festival, along with a stop at NPR’s Mountain Stage. Next month they’ll hit Beach Road Weekend, followed by Moon River Music Festival before the fall tour kicks off.
For as much as Sammy Rae & The Friends may be a band, this collective of, dreamers, and artists considers itself a family first. Fronted by singer and songwriter Sammy Rae, the group flourishes in any spotlight with a combination of all-for-one and one-for-all camaraderie, palpable chemistry, deft virtuosity, and vocal fireworks. Their sound is a mélange of Sammy’s influences, rooted in classic rock, folk, and funk and sprinkled with soul and jazz. Complete with a rhythm section, horn section, and keyboards, Sammy Rae & The Friends have delivered their high-energy, spirited, and unrestrained shows to sold-out audiences across the US.
