Brooklyn’s Sammy Rae & The Friends are ending 2020 on a bright note, with the announcement of their new EP, Let’s Throw A Party, coming January 22nd, as well as a festive cover of Wham!’s classic holiday song “Last Christmas,” a confirmed festival appearance in April 2021 (Moon Crush), and last, but certainly not least, a smile-inducing chat with The Evans Brothers (Chris & Scott), the band’s self-described “biggest fans.”

Sammy Rae & Chris and Scott Evans Get to Know Each Other:

Media Quotes:

“swoony, euphoric jazz-rock, pitched somewhere between Lake Street Dive and Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, with Bowers’s soulful vocals at center stage.” — Boston Globe

“easily one of the most captivating live performers around … a tough-to-pin-down swirl of jazz, blues, rock, world and disco vibes, but don’t get too caught up in trying to wrap your head around any sort of concrete Pitchfork definition – just go and see for yourself what the magic’s all about. (‘Cause the magic factor is concrete.).” – Brightest Young Things

“the energetic crew plays an eclectic blend of styles, ranging from funk-inflected pop to plaintive folk-rock to raging rock and roll.” – Seven Days

“Samantha Bowers leads the type of music revolution in which everyone is welcome and anyone can join.” – BK Reader

Sammy Rae’s sound is a mélange of her influences, rooted in classic rock, pop, R&B and soul, and sprinkled with hints of blues and jazz. Complete with a rhythm section, horn section, keyboards, and two backup singers, Sammy Rae & The Friends have delivered their high-energy, spirited and unrestrained shows to sold-out audiences in the Northeast and beyond, most recently including New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge, Boston’s The Sinclair, Burlington’s Higher Ground and Chicago’s Schubas.

Over the past year, Sammy Rae & The Friends have released three singles from their upcoming EP: the indie piano ballad “Living Room Floor,” the spirited  “Whatever We Feel” and the glamorous “Jackie Onassis”.  Stay tuned for more news in 2021!
