“Hands Up is a fun, danceable pop treat that will be stuck in your head long after the song ends.” – Indie Obsessive

“Explosive new single, inspiring banger” – Buzzbands.LA

When they first formed several years back, LA-bred Run River North were called Monsters Calling Home.  Years later, having evolved from a sextet, the trio of Alex Hwang (guitars/lead vocals), Daniel Chae (guitar/vocals) and Sally Kang (keys/vocals) have returned to their name – this time as the title of their EP Monsters Calling Home, Vol. 1 (out tomorrow via Nettwerk).

Partnering with Substream Magazine, the band shares latest single, “Casina” – the companion track to “Casino” – which speaks to togetherness and identity during a time of hardship.  Speaking to Substream, Hwang says, “the demo of this song truly sparked the flame within the three remaining members of RRN. We knew ‘Casino’ would be on the EP but after Sally, working with Daniel Rho and Miro Mackie (mixer, producer), sang her verse – we knew this was the beginning of something new. Without a drummer and bassist, Daniel and Miro began to build the rhythm and bass that would become the blueprint for future RRN soundscapes.”

As they evolve from a sextet to a trio, the new EP is the first steps forward since all of the exits and dramatic details that seem trivial when spoken but familiar and cathartic when sung. The songs dig into the pieces of their collective identity in search of joy within themselves. Other tracks on the EP include “Hands Up” which is co-written with Hannah and Christian of Grouplove and is about finding hope in a definitively hopeless moment, while “Rearview” and “40g” delve into loss and regret.
