Run River North Announce EP & SXSW Schedule; Watch “Rearview” Official Music Video

“Over dreamy production, lead vocalist Alex Hwang and keyboardist Sally Kang trade verses as they ruminate over fighting to win back a lost love…”

Billboard

When they first formed several years back, LA-based band Run River North were called Monsters Calling Home. Years later, having evolved from a sextet, the trio of Alex Hwang (guitars/lead vocals), Daniel Chae (guitar/vocals) and Sally Kang (keys/vocals) have returned to their name – this time as the title of their upcoming EP Monsters Calling Home, Vol. 1 (out May 3 via Nettwerk).

A celebratory effort ushering in a new era for the band, the EP is about finding hope in transition and discovering your voice in a sea of doubt. Last month, the band released “Hands Up,” an anthemic, co-writing collaboration with Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi of Grouplove (the duo’s first of such sessions). Partnering with Billboard, the band shares latest single, “Rearview,” a track about losing someone and whether to try again, when could/should you move on, does “losing once” mean “never again,” and everything else that falls in between. Speaking to Billboard, Hwang says, “I don’t think there is ever truly a right or wrong time to fight for someone. If the person takes you back then it was worth the fight. If they say no again, you’re left feeling alone, desperate and wronged. ‘Rearview’ is going down the road of deciding who you will be to the one you just lost.”

This month, the band heads to Austin for SXSW before the US headline tour begins on April 25th in their hometown of Los Angeles at the Moroccan Lounge. SXSW and tour dates listed below.
