March 29, 2024 BY Emma Orland
Rochester, NY duo Roses and Revolutions return with new single “Peace,” showcasing their penchant for bold delivery, gentle sonic textures, and compelling storytelling. The song is one of six that will be featured on their upcoming Questions EP, out June 21st, which sees the pair trace the cycles and seasons of life, love, heartbreak, and acceptance. “‘Peace’ is about that in-between stage in a relationship… when you start to realize that nothing you do for your person is good enough,” the duo says. “You keep trying to make them happy, make them love you, almost in a desperate way, to earn their affection. You feel like you’re doing everything right, but they’re still not happy.”

A duo since 2017, Roses & Revolutions—Alyssa Coco and Matt Merritt—only continue to fortify their creative bond. Alyssa’s expansive vocal range and expressive lyricism enmesh in a call-and-response with Matt’s warm production and stark, yet striking instrumentation. Building on their bond, they unlock a shared sense of clarity and confidence from these six tracks.
Their evolution has organically happened across EPs such as Roses & Revolutions [2018], Under The Spell [2020], Covers [2020], Midnight Monsters [2021], and Keep A Little Light On [2022]. Along the way, they amassed tens of millions of streams powered by the likes of “Big Bad Wolf,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “The Pines.” Beyond praise from Spin, FLAUNT, American Songwriter, and more, Atwood christened them, “harbingers of intense emotion and perspective conveyed through undeniably immersive, catchy songs,” and GRAMMY.com applauded how the pair “weave intricate, imaginative folk-pop.”
“I hope this EP finds the right people who may need to hear this certain situation, so they don’t feel alone,” Alyssa concludes. “Music should put you in a world where you feel a part of something. It’s comfort.”
