River Matthews To Release Debut Album ‘Imogen” Feb 16; First U.S. Tour With Good Old War And Justin Nozuka

January 19, 2018 BY Nettwerk

UK-based musical therapy teacher turned soulful singer-songwriter River Matthews will release his debut album Imogen on February 16th. River will celebrate the album’s release with his first-ever tour of the U.S., supporting Good Old War and Justin Nozuka on a 22-city run, starting in Philadelphia, PA (February 15th) and wrapping in Boston, MA (March 15th). All tour dates are below.

The stunning 11 songs on Imogen ebb and flow from heartfelt, intimate performances such as “Pretty Things” and “Stars,” to fuller productions like the spine-tinglingly beautiful “Fool For You.” The album fuses elements of Folk, Americana, Songwriter-Pop and Soul to create a body of work that manages to be at once vintage and contemporary.

River caught attention in the UK and Europe over 2017 with the release of his Sunshine EP. The title track (also featured on Imogen) is an unapologetically feel-good slice of singer/songwriter pop. Hook-driven, high quality production provides the backdrop for River’s distinctive vocal, which oozes soul and charm in equal measure. The Sunshine EP cemented his place as one of the UK’s finest new talents, garnering support from Spotify on New Music Friday, a BBC Radio 2 playlist, and features with Billboard, Clash and The Line of Best Fit, among others. He also supported Rag ‘N’ Bone Man on his sold-out “Human” tour, followed by two sold-out headline shows in London and a 2017 European tour.
