April 26, 2024 BY Emma Orland

After making her triumphant US debut with a slew of appearances at The New Colossus Festival and SXSW, Vienna-based indie-pop singer/songwriter OSKA shares yet another enchanting new single called, “April, May, July,” a song that as much about hope as it is about loss. OSKA says, “For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with ending any kind of relationship. I had to learn that, sometimes, the only way to regain trust and love is to let go of one another. I’ve spent the last 12 months traveling and living alone for the most part, and recording my album in a different country where I didn‘t know anyone except for my producer. It has been a very important experience for me that gave me the chance to look a lot of things with physical and emotional distance.”

“April, May, July” is the second song OSKA has shared from her forthcoming, anticipated full-length album (details TBA). She introduced the new work with “Like A Song,” which showcases OSKA’s evocative songwriting and enchanting melodies as she delves into themes of clarity and security emerging from what felt like an eternity of turbulence and discomfort.

After taking SXSW by storm, OSKA is now back in Europe where she has tour dates planned throughout the rest of the year, including a headline run, festival appearances, and four very special nights opening for Coldplay in her home city alongside Maggie Rogers this summer. All dates can be found HERE.

OSKA’s 2022 debut album, My World, My Love, Paris, features 12 songs that see OSKA weave together tales of her family life and the experience of being a young person growing up in the world. With candor and charm, her authentic self comes through in honest lyricism and tender melodies. The album boasts more than 20 million Spotify streams and received praise from media like Under The Radar (“OSKA has a special talent for bittersweet yearning poeticism”), COLLiDE (“there is an underlying sense that everyone can relate to OSKA’s melancholic disposition”), Atwood (“determined to inspire listeners through poetic verse and beautiful melodies alike”), Clout (“Must-hear pieces of work”), Nothing But Hope & Passion (“the result is as profound as it is charming”), and more. She spent much of 2022 and 2023 on the road, making her Great Escape debut, and supporting Stu Larsen, Haevn, and most recently, Tom Odell.

Growing up in a small village in Lower Austria, OSKA moved to Vienna at 18 to study her first love; music. She started busking in streets and squares of the capital while also studying pop and jazz singing. She signed to Nettwerk in 2020 and released her debut EP Honeymoon Phase to critical acclaim. The five songs on the album have amassed more than 8 million Spotify streams and won her the XA Music Export Award at Waves Vienna Festival 2020, and the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for “Best Sound” in 2022. Stay tuned for more news and music from OSKA.
