RISING INDIE FOLK ARTIST HAZLETT UNVEILS NEW SINGLE ‘I DON’T WANT YOUR GARDEN’
August 25, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
Ahead of the release of Hazlett’s deeply intimate new album, last night you said you missed me (out 12th September via Nettwerk), he’ll be releasing the new single ‘i don’t want your garden’ on 8th August. Once again, his masterful songwriting and hypnotic musicality are on point, exploring the conflicting emotions of loss as the track builds to a surging crescendo. It’s a satisfying final glimpse into the album, his most vulnerable and cinematic work to date – one crafted for the quiet moments, the aching goodbyes, and the hopeful new beginnings.
Hazlett: “I think it’s true that you don’t know how much you miss something until it goes away. But sometimes routine or habit can slowly unravel everything that once had your blood pumping and eyes wide. In that moment though the only thing that can come sweeping through to put you back on your feet is a notion I’ve tried to live with. What is meant for you will always find a way and what isn’t will always pass you by.“
Known for his soul-stirring lyricism and lush folk atmospheres, the new album from the Sweden-based, Australian indie folk singer is told through a collection of sonic postcards; there are stripped-back ballads and comforting acoustic textures, and themes of self-preservation, distance, yearning, and quiet hope. Each track unfolds like a handwritten letter – raw, honest, and brimming with feeling. Whether you’re walking through city streets alone or sitting by candlelight, this record is a confession and a cathartic hug; a reminder that home isn’t always a place. Sometimes, it’s a song that stays a while. Highlights include recent singles “mountain of a memory,” “tell me something,” “doing my best” and “blue jean,” each offering glimpses into Hazlett’s evolved artistry, and all met with praise for their unfiltered vulnerability and cinematic charm.
Hazlett’s 2023 debut Bloom Mountain and 2024’s Goodbye to the Valley Low turned heads across the indie music landscape, establishing him as a masterful storyteller and emotional architect. With over 450M globalstreams, 2.5M+ monthly Spotify listeners, and 117K+ TikTok fans, his music continues to resonate on a global scale. This summer, Hazlett took the stage with Noah Kahan at London’s BST Hyde Park – the biggest show of his career, further showcasing his ability to connect with massive crowds while staying deeply personal.
Hazlett will be returning to our shores for a string of UK shows later this year. He’ll be heading back with his full band as part of his upcoming European tour, kicking off on December 4th at Manchester, he’ll be stopping in Glasgow and Dublin, before wrapping up with his biggest UK solo show to date at London’s esteemed Union Chapel.
