RHODES Releases New Album ‘(un-finished)’

March 1, 2024 BY Emma Orland

Today, acclaimed singer-songwriter RHODES has unveiled his third studio album (un-finished) via Nettwerk– listen here.  Created amid a time of self-reflection, the new album is the London-based artist’s most cohesive and honest work to date, showcasing a new depth of vulnerability.

Speaking on the new release, RHODES says: “I started writing this album in the Summer of 2022. I was in the middle of a deeply introspective period of self-reflection and looking back a lot at my past, my childhood, and the traumas we carry through generations in our families. I’d come to a point where I started to realise that the way I saw the world was distorted, the lines had been blurred in places I didn’t expect them to be, and I was struggling to see my true reality. I was always balancing somewhere between being alright and completely falling apart and my coping mechanisms were damaging to not only me but also to the people around me. I couldn’t accept that there was a way through anything beyond what I’d always known, and I started to unravel, unfolding all of my core beliefs with this existential feeling of ‘am I even myself?’

Throughout my life I’ve always been acutely aware of how all of this has affected me and my relationships and as I began to open up about it more, I realised that we’ve all experienced similar emotional turmoil, sometimes on a smaller or larger scale but almost always we can relate to each other through these kinds of feelings.”

Today’s release boasts ten stunning personal tracks, written by RHODES with his signature emotive vocal. (un-finished) includes previously released tracks ‘Happy’, ‘Sunlight’, How I Love You’‘Toothpaste’, and ‘All I’ve Ever Known’, with the addition of six brand new songs.

To celebrate the release of his new album, RHODES will be embarking on a UK/Europe solo acoustic tour this month, including shows in Edinburgh, Manchester, and London. Hertfordshire-raised, London-based singer/songwriter RHODES first captured everyone’s attention with a series of EPs leading up to the release of his acclaimed 2015 debut album Wishes (via Sony Music). The album, which charted inside the UK Top 25, included hit single ‘Let It All Go’, a duet with Birdy that has now amassed over 233 million Spotify streams, and sent RHODES’ trajectory skywards. He’s captivated audiences on a series of headline shows and tours, and opened for the likes of Sam Smith, London Grammar, Hozier and, most recently, Christine and the Queens. He’s thrilled crowds at an array of festivals including Glastonbury, Citadel, Secret Garden Party, Sweden’s Way Out West and Norway’s Øyafestivalen and gained acclaim from the likes of CLASH, BBC, Independent, The Line of Best Fit, Gigwise, Wonderland, Evening Standard and BBC Radio 1 (Live Lounge). The arrival of sophomore album Friends Like These in 2023 saw RHODES share tales of love, loss, friendship, and hope, harnessed by his charming vocals.
