Acclaimed Russian composer and multi-instrumentalist Evgeny Grinko unveils his latest single, “Evening Bell”, the fifth release from his highly anticipated new album, Winter Moonlight, set to debut on February 7, 2025 via Nettwerk.
Inspired by his time living near a church in Moscow, “Evening Bell” reflects the composer’s emotional connection to the resonant sound of church bells. Grinko explains: “During my time in Moscow, I lived near a church. We would frequently hear the sound of the bells through our open windows. This song is an interpretation of that sound. The composition came, as many of my compositions do, from a moment of freeform improvisation at the piano.”
While originally recorded as a solo piano piece, Grinko added subtle synthesizer flourishes to elevate the track’s atmosphere: “I felt a few flourishes with the synthesizer would really bring the track to life. We did take after take, searching for the perfect sound. Interestingly, the unused material from these sessions became the outro to Winter Moonlight.” “Evening Bell” showcases Grinko’s signature ability to blend intimate, piano-driven melodies with modern, experimental elements, giving listeners a taste of the rich textures and narratives awaiting them on Winter Moonlight.
