QUIET ARROWS Releases Thoughtful & Melancholic New Album ‘Behind The Breastbone’

April 29, 2022 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Today, Quiet Arrows shares Behind The Breastbonehis gorgeous new album comprised of 10 tracks full of love, thoughtful exploration and hopeful melancholy. Lithe finger-picked guitar darts past a haze of barely audible synths and natural percussion as Samuel Robertson, the wordsmith behind Quiet Arrows, chases and catches intensely infectious melodies.

“I worked on this album over the last couple of years, which overlapped with a particularly intense season of my life,” says Samuel. “I wrote these songs throughout that season, and most of them are an expression of what I directly experienced or felt. The title ‘Behind the Breastbone’ speaks to the physical space in my body where I most acutely felt these experiences taking shape — the space that holds the heart and hides the soul. It is the space where I processed the beauty and the longing and the pain of this past season of my life. It is the space that forged these songs into expressions and declarations of how that season could transform. Behind the breastbone — a hidden, intimate, sacred space where we find the strength of perseverance and the source of gratitude.”

Samuel first began writing songs with his wife Hannah in the singer-songwriter duo The Woodlands, and Quiet Arrows evolved simultaneously. The songs have a signature emotive quality: poetic lyrics, introspective pondering, lush harmonies, interesting arrangements. He utilizes this persona as an outlet to examines life’s push-and-pull in its purest state. After amassing nearly 40 million streams and landing 100-plus syncs, he returns with Behind The Breastbone.
