Mental Health Awareness has always been important to Australian-born, Los Angeles-based artist Portair, so he decided to use his new single, “Stand In Tall Ovation,” to give back to two organizations close to his heart – North America’s To Write Love On Her Arms and Australia’s Beyond Blue. For every pre-save, he is donating a dollar to one of the organizations.

The sweeping single that tackles Portair’s own struggles with depression begins with sparse instrumentals and his hushed vocals and swells as his soaring falsetto builds with the beat, similar to the ebbs and flows of one’s mental health. He explains, “It’s about my battle with depression. When you feel like all you want to do is crawl into a ball, the simple act of getting out of bed deserves a standing ovation. Even the most menial and small tasks warrant praise, because no one understands the absolute war inside your mind to physically get those things done.”

Currently, on a sold-out Australian headline tour, Portair also announced his first headline show in Los Angeles on June 8th at the Hotel Cafe. The Australian run and LA date follow dates for Begonia and a 20-date North American run with City Of The Sun that included sold-out shows in Boston, Philadelphia, and New York.

The new single follows his April track, “Hellbent,” and recent EP, Learning How To Die. The EP features buzzy New York artist Vérité, Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling songwriter, artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist WYNNE, and Los Angeles singer-songwriter Emily James. Written and recorded in the desert, the landscape helped shape the record that faces some of life’s biggest questions. The EP follows his viral single “Gloaming Hour,” which racked up over 5 million plays on TikTok,. The alternative singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, graphic designer/artist, and producer released his EP, The Light That Breaks, earlier this year which followed his 2021 debut EP, The Light That Gives. As a songwriter and a producer, his songs and scores have appeared on networks such as Netflix, NBC, MTV, and CBS.  He has spent the last year on tour with artists like SYML and Liz Longley, as well as doing his own run in the U.S. and UK/EU of Sofar shows.
