Pêtr Aleksänder Shares Video For “A Walk on the Seabed”

November 15, 2018 BY Nettwerk

Nettwerk is excited to announce the signing of rising UK neo-classical band Pêtr Aleksänder to its worldwide label roster. Hailing from London and comprised of producer Eliot James and Tom Hobden (formerly of Noah and the Whale), the two are accomplished producers and musicians in their own right.

Watch the video for their Nettwerk debut single, the gorgeous and stirring “A Walk on the Seabed,” directed by BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Martina Amati. She explained “I loved the cinematic appeal of the track and it was interesting to let my images flow into a new soundscape, seeing them forming different shapes, like sea waves.”

When asked about how they were introduced to Martina’s work, they said, “We stumbled on her exhibition at the Wellcome collection and instantly fell in love with her work. The imagery in ‘Under’ particularly resonated with us and we felt it would be the perfect fit for ‘A Walk on the Seabed.’ Martina’s extraordinary eye for beauty in the unusual underwater world of which she is such a master feels like the ideal accompaniment for the track. Her otherworldly landscapes, in this instance with the presence of free divers, provide a setting, a context for the sense of tranquillity, which defines our music.”

“A Walk on the Seabed” is available to download/stream HERE and is taken from their forthcoming debut album, due out in 2019.

The band were recently asked to remix Interpol’s “If You Really Love Nothing,” which sees the anthemic original ‘reimagined’ as a transcendent, beautifully string-laden opus.

About Pêtr Aleksänder:

Eliot James and Tom Hobden first met back in 2007, while working together on Noah and the Whale’s “Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down” (Eliot produced their debut album). They’ve continued on almost parallel paths with Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons (Hobden), Bloc Party and Two Door Cinema Club (James), and others over the years.

Pêtr Aleksänder was born from the duo’s desire to create a more considered sound, controlled in it’s execution by way of purposefully limiting the instruments at their disposal to piano and strings, but never at the expense of the raw, emotional impact that a simple yet incisive sound can deliver. Early Pêtr Aleksänder recordings such as “Sans Souci” quickly caught the attention of streaming services, the wider public and in turn, renowned independent label Nettwerk, who offered the band a record deal. The band released a video for “Bells” in September 2017, which featured an aspiring dancer called Jacob Lang, a finalist in the contemporary dance category of BBC Young Dancer 2017. A support tour with the acclaimed Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør in late 2017 saw the duo perform across the UK and also in Sweden.

Eliot and Tom are currently in the studio working on their debut full-length Pêtr Aleksänder album.
