Passenger’s “Let Her Go” Passes 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

October 10, 2019 BY Nettwerk

British singer-songwriter Passenger, aka Mike Rosenberg, sees his breakout, international hit single “Let Her Go” become the 42nd song (and only the 7th song from a UK artist) to exceed 1 Billion streams on Spotify, joining an elite group that includes Ed Sheeran, Drake, Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello and Sia.  “Let Her Go” is also on its way to the elusive Diamond certification, with nearly 10 Million paid streams and downloads in the U.S. alone.  It’s already one of 18 tracks that are Diamond-certified in Canada, and the only track from a Canadian label to achieve such status.

Originally recorded in 2012, “Let Her Go” reached No.1 in 19 countries, with the accompanying album All The Little Lights achieving platinum or multi-platinum status in 11 countries. The song’s accompanying video surpassed 2 Billion YouTube views last year, and now sits at just over 2.5 Billion.

Of the achievement, Rosenberg said, “How flipping silly and ridiculous! This song just keeps on going and going. A massive thanks to everyone who is still listening / streaming / watching it and of course to Spotify for all of the support over the years!”

Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride adds, “Against all commercial odds, ‘Let Her Go’ defines what a classic song of the heart can accomplish.”

While Passenger is most known for “Let Her Go,” the song is only a glimpse at the incredible body of work behind the humble troubadour. From busking on street corners to fund his first albums to touring the globe multiple times over, playing to sold out crowds at some of world’s most iconic venues and stages, Passenger has built a tremendously dedicated fan base as a solo acoustic performer thanks to his ability to connect with audiences large and small with his beautiful story-telling, unique voice, and unmatched witty rapport.

Passenger is currently working on a new album, due out in 2020.
