Passenger Introduces A New Drunk And Broken Hearted Character With Latest Song “Remember To Forget”
December 11, 2020 BY Nettwerk
With his latest single “Remember to Forget,” Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) tells the story of another character in the world of Songs For The Drunk And Broken Hearted — the guy who refuses to call it a night. Rosenberg says, “This song is for all of those people that that never want to go to bed after a night out and just want to stay out drinking for as long as they can. I’ve definitely been that guy before, and I know a few others that have. The idea of having to be on your own in a dark room with ringing in your ears is not a pleasant one.”
Out January 8th, Songs For The Drunk And Broken Hearted is an album populated by drunk and broken-hearted characters. Most of the songs were written following Rosenberg’s own breakup. He reflects, “You’re incredibly vulnerable for a few months. You’re so used to the safety of being with somebody and suddenly you’re out in the world on your own. And you get pissed and probably make some bad decisions. It’s universal. Most everyone goes through it at some stage.”
The accompanying music video for “Remember To Forget” completes a trilogy of connected videos in Passenger’s universe of drunk and broken hearted characters. The series began with title track “A Song for the Drunk and Broken Hearted,” which set the scene in a half empty dive bar with patrons drowning their sorrows, followed by “Suzanne,” which turned the viewers’ attention to an older woman sitting alone reflecting on days gone by. Watch all three below.
With an authentic and engaging live show that has won over scores of fans and critics around the globe and allowed him to headline some of the world’s most famous stages, Passenger looks forward to returning to the road as soon as it’s safe for everyone (rescheduled North American tour dates are listed below). In the meantime, he invites fans to an intimate evening at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall for an exclusive performance film that will be broadcast on January 10, 2021 to celebrate the album’s release. Everyone who pre-orders the album receives priority access to the event. Tickets can also be purchases HERE.
Hailing from Brighton, England, Passenger is a multi-award winning, platinum-selling singer-songwriter. Although still known for his busking, he long ago made the journey from street corners to stadiums, thanks in part to supporting his good mate Ed Sheeran, and most notably with “Let Her Go,” which reached number 1 in 19 countries and is approaching three billion plays on YouTube. Yet ‘Let Her Go’ is just one song from a remarkable and prolific back catalogue, including 2016’s Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea, which topped the charts in the UK and beyond.
Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted is available to pre-order HERE. All physical packaging of CDs and Vinyl will be made of 100% recycled material, and one tree will be planted for every physical piece sold via the Passenger webstore thanks to a partnership with Ecologi and the Eden Project.
