OLD SEA BRIGADE BLENDS “WARM AMERICANA” (BROOKLYN VEGAN) WITH “SYNTHS REMINISCENT OF JOY DIVISION” (KUTX) + CELEBRATES THE JOYS OF PRE-DAWN PEACE ON NEW ALBUM 5AM PARADISE

October 28, 2022 BY Danielle Romeo

Old Sea Brigade’s 5AM Paradise, a new ten-song collection from the Nashville-based and Georgia-born “mastermind” (East Nashvillian) musician, has arrived today via Nettwerk. A follow-up to his 2021 full-length Motivational Speaking, the months between releases have seen Old Sea Brigade turn the momentum of making “some of the best quarantine art” (Consequence) into playing the biggest stages of his career as the world opened up again. Following that excitement with 5AM Paradise, the new album finds OSB’s Ben Cramer “weaving sharply-written threads of aging, youthful longing, and newfound maturity” (Under The Radar); penned as he contemplated this all just after turning 30, and while he spent the pandemic navigating a long-term relationship across continents.

Next month, Old Sea Brigade will also tour North America, his first headlining dates with a full band after the critical praise of Motivational Speaking and 5AM Paradise. After the holidays, he’ll continue that run through the UK and Europe in January and February 2023. 5AM Paradise was recorded by Cramer in a cabin high atop the North Carolina mountains, which he hand-converted into a fully-functioning studio with his longtime collaborators Jeremy Griffith and Owen Lewis. In addition to his Old Sea Brigade work, Cramer is also a sought-after producer in Nashville, both for locally-based artists like Braison Cyrus and international artists like The Franklin Electric, and the new album features many of his hometown music community’s most lauded musicians. These collaborators include Trent Dabbs (who co-wrote Kacey Musgraves’ “High Horse”), Eli Beaird (Willie Nelson, Ruston Kelly), Kris Donegan (Mickey Guyton, Hailey Whitters, Molly Tuttle) and Julian Dorio (Amanda Shires, Eagles Of Death Metal).
