Night Tapes’ “Humans” gets dancefloor Franc Moody remix

“Wonderfully textured and luxurious… soothing and ethereal” – Wonderland

“Dream pop meets opaque electronics, Night Tapes recall the crystalline sheen of the Italians Do It Better roster, while retaining a hand-made, DIY touch.”  CLASH

DIY dream pop trio Night Tapes return with a new club-ready remix of their hit 2022 single ‘Humans’ courtesy of funk duo Franc Moody, out today on Nettwerk.

‘Humans (Franc Moody remix)’ is a fresh rework of Night Tapes’ 2022 fan favourite, which also featured on the group’s recent EP Perfect Kindness. The original, a spacey Tame Impala-inspired slow jam full of shimmering synths and infectious vocals, combines louche melodies with dreamy chord progressions to create a nostalgic yet timeless sonic feel. Franc Moody’s remix gives the track an uptempo boost, adding funk flavours and restyling lead singer Iiris Vesik’s elegant vocal hook into a dance floor anthem.

Speaking about the original, Night Tapes said: “‘Humans’ is about getting used to being a spectral being and learning lessons about one’s own shadow.” Continuing their hot streak since the release of their third EP Perfect Kindness in June, the band are about to embark on a tour of the UK and Europe, with upcoming shows in Vienna, London, Bristol, Brighton, Manchester, Copenhagen, Paris and Tallinn.

Night Tapes started out as evening jams between housemates Max Doohan, Sam Richards and Iiris Vesik in London. Night time London, genre-blending, multi-fidelity recordings and honest reflection contribute to their atmospheric soundscapes that ultimately make for fresh and envelope-pushing dream pop. The trio take inspiration from both their lived experience in the world that they can see and touch, as well as the less tangible spiritual and metaphysical realm.

To date, the band have released three EPs: Dream Forever In Glorious Stereo and Download Spirit, and Perfect Kindness, which was released to acclaim via Nettwerk Music Group on 16th June. Their debut single ‘Forever’ has reached over five million plays, and their music has been championed by TurtlenekPaste MagazinePigeons & PlanesDUMMY MagazineAt The BarrierDavid Dean Burkhart and Majestic Casual channels.

Franc Moody is funk duo Ned Franc and Jon Moody – songwriters, producers and leaders of their incendiary six piece touring band. Influences include a selection of funk and dance music’s finest, from Parliament to Jamiroquai and from Daft Punk to LCD Soundsystem.

After debuting the Franc Moody show in 2017 at Bermondsey Social Club, it was only a quick two years before they had sold out Shepherds Bush Empire, and their debut album Dream in Colour was released the same year. Despite being held up by the pandemic, second album Into The Ether was released in 2022. To date Franc Moody have amassed over 150 million streams, and in 2023 played their biggest show yet at the 5000 capacity Eventim Apollo in London, having ended 2022 in style at The Novo, Los Angeles. This year Franc Moody launch their own ‘House of FM’ label for an initial series of singles, with long-time collaborators Juicebox, as well as extensive UK/EU and US touring.

‘Humans (Franc Moody remix)’ is a fresh and funky take on Night Tapes’ shimmering original, proving the enduring power and versatility of the London trio’s music.
