The esteemed Hamburg-born composer, pianist and producer Niklas Paschburg announces he has joined the burgeoning instrumentalist and composer roster at Nettwerk. Today he shares the exquisite opening salvo of this latest creative chapter ‘Agave’. Stream and share HERE.

‘Agave’ was written amidst the serenity of a nighttime agave farm. Combining celestial synth layers with organic samples, the track captures the stillness of stargazing in remote Mexican mountains; it’s an ode to quiet contemplation and the profound inspiration found in nature’s simplicity. Notably this single is Niklas’s first of a set of tracks written without the piano.

Describing the new music, Niklas states “It all started with an invitation to play at a festival in Oaxaca,” he says. “Since I had never been to Latin America, I began considering how to take advantage of the opportunity to stay for a while and write something there. I started looking for houses, but I quickly realised it was almost impossible to find one with a piano—it’s not a common instrument in Mexican culture. I thought, why not try immersing myself in a writing process that doesn’t involve one? I was so excited about the idea that I jumped in.”

Featuring an enveloping sound crafted by Paschburg in collaboration with Gijs van Klooster, who mixed it in a studio specifically designed for Atmos music. Mastering was handled by Bo Kondren at Calyx Studio in Berlin.

Niklas Paschburg has been spent the past 9 years making a name as one of the vital talents in contemporary classical music, and a must know modern composer. His latest body of work sees him join the roster at the storied independent label, Nettwerk and embark on a new creative endeavour.

Spurred on by his own curiosity, the German musician adds yet another important piece to an artistic journey that began in 2016 with the debut EP “Tuur Mang Welten” and continued with three albums (plus this new EP), a variety of remixes, and collaborations (ranging from RY X to Asgeir, Hania Rani to Bryan Senti, and emerging club stars Fejka and Nills Hoffman), as well as soundtracks for the films “Presque” by Bernard Campan and Alexandre Jollien, and “Ernesto’s Island” by Ronald Vietz. Alongside the production of the first record of classical cellist Dobrawa Czocher.
