New Signing: The Veils

November 5, 2015 BY Nettwerk

Nettwerk Records is pleased to announce the signing of The Veils, a London-based band fronted by lead singer and songwriter Finn Andrews.
The Veils just finished recording the first batch of songs at Konk Studio in London, which is owned by Ray Davies of The Kinks.  The album reunites the band with producers Adam ‘Atom’ Greenspan and Nick Launay who were behind the critically acclaimed Nux Vomica.  Greenspan and Launay have also worked together on projects including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band Of Skulls and many others. In addition, Andrews and El-P (from Run The Jewels) met up in Los Angeles and Porto, Portugal to collaborate on a few tracks that will appear on the forthcoming album.
In advance of the album, the band shares a quick snippet from the recording session.

The Veils is the latest addition to Nettwerk’s expanding label roster, which includes artists like Ladytron, Hermitude, Family Of The Year, Passenger, Run River North, Boy & Bear, Coves, Sinéad O’Connor, Boxed In, as well as catalogue artists like Angus & Julia Stone, The Submarines and fun.
In the coming weeks, stay tuned for more album details.
Critical Praises:
“…the most moving, unsettling and unexpectedly haunting thing I’ve seen in rock music this year” – LA Times
“Andrews has a dryness to his delivery, taking what could be poignant and churning it around in his mouth until it comes out wry or arch.  It sounds akin to many of rock’s greatest voices, but ultimately, because his tongue is often planted far inside his cheek, the final effect is unique” – Pitchfork
“forceful hooks and aggressive tempos alternated with moments of regret and recrimination.  The Veils delivered power chords with furious economy.  The Veils are a reminder that a set that clears your head can be exactly what’s needed.” – Interview Magazine
“The recipe for the kind of rock that stitches itself to your brain and stays put” – Stereogum
“deep, dark and absolutely rocking…get on with it already” – Black Book
