March 15, 2022 BY Penny Palmer
British singer-songwriter RHODES, who has just signed a deal with Nettwerk and Tap Management (Dermot Kennedy, Lana Del Rey, London Grammar), returns with stunning new single “No Words” – LISTEN HERE. Accompanying the track, he unveiled a beautiful lyric video – WATCH HERE.
On “No Words,” RHODES said – ‘”The essence of this song is loss. Specifically, the loss I felt after believing a dream to have been real for a brief moment directly after waking up. Those moments can sometimes set you up for a day of nostalgic reflection, and as soon as I woke up that morning, I just sat at the piano with a coffee, and the song just poured out. The song is knowing that nothing I could ever do or say could bring this person back to me. I decided to tag it on the album at the last minute because I loved it so much.”
“No Words” is the first offering from RHODES’s upcoming album, a collection of highly personal and emotive tracks, later this year. After taking a step back and going through what he describes as a transformative period, both professionally and personally, he turned to writing and recording during lockdown alongside producers Rich Cooper (Billie Marten, Rina Sawayama) and Ash Workman (Christine and the Queens, Metronomy). The upcoming album will be RHODES’ first since acclaimed debut album Wishes, which included the hit single “Let It At All Go,” a duet with Birdy that has now amassed 175 million Spotify streams.
With over 1.7million monthly Spotify listeners, RHODES is revived and ready to share tales of love, loss, friendship & hope, beginning with the release of “No Words.”
Hertfordshire-raised, London-based singer/songwriter RHODES first captured everyone’s attention with a series of EPs leading up to the release of his acclaimed 2015 debut album Wishes (via Sony Music). The album, which charted inside the UK Top 25, included the hit single “Let It At All Go,” a duet with Birdy that has now amassed 175 million Spotify streams and sent RHODES’ trajectory skywards. He’s captivated audiences on a series of headline shows and tours and opened for the likes of Sam Smith, London Grammar, and Hozier. He’s thrilled crowds at an array of festivals including Glastonbury, Citadel, Secret Garden Party, Sweden’s Way Out West, and Norway’s Øyafestivalen and gained acclaim from the likes of CLASH, BBC, Independent, The Line of Best, Gigwise, Evening Standard and BBC Radio 1 (Live Lounge). The arrival of the single “No Words” in March 2022 marks a new period in RHODES’ creative output, which promises to be his most intimate and relatable to date.
