New Signing alt-R&B Artist kerri Shares “only1”; Listen Here

Nettwerk Records is excited to announce the signing of Alt-R&B artist/producer kerri. The Saskatchewan-born, Montréal-based producer and creative blend alternative R&B with hip-hop and lofi. Learning to produce in his teens, kerri draws inspiration from indie and electronic acts (e.g., Frank Ocean, Dijon, and James Blake) and mixes it with his own experiences and craft. The result is a signature sound of spacious textures and emotional narratives.
Today, kerri shares “only1,” the first single from a forthcoming mixtape set for release later this year (details TBA). “The track was formed in the early summer of 2021 and is about the desire to be loved and attached,” says kerri. “This song, motivated by envy or suspicion, promotes an individualist mindset to take care of oneself. I wanted to experiment with various sounds throughout the song to create something warm and thoughtful. I’m trying to blend contemporary production with a nostalgic lo-fi pop palette. This song sets the tone for the mixtape and highlights the themes that will run throughout the project.”
In 2018, kerri released his debut LP, happy accidents, followed by the eleven-song album QUEEN CITY in 2021. With more planned, this much is true: every kerri track is packed with vulnerable sensibilities. Cigarettes and solo drives. Moonlight candles and journal entries. Lullabies to guide you through the night.
