New Signing 19-year Old Producer, Pianist and Composer SCayos Shares Lofi Instrumental Track “longdriveswyou”

April 1, 2022 BY Penny Palmer

Currently a student at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, SCayos is a 19-year old pianist, producer, and composer hailing from Mumbai, India. This young artist blends self-produced lofi-beats with jazzy, hip-hop energy. The result is a listening experience perfect for reflection, adventure, and introspection.

SCayos partnered with friend Carter Stark on his Nettwerk debut track, “longdriveswyou.” “This is a beat I made when Carter visited me,” says SCayos. “I tried to focus on groove again and show off some of my piano and sampling skills. I chopped up some horns and used them as the main countermelody. I also chopped up chords played on the horn and reversed them for texture. I enjoyed playing my Rhodes solo and used a lot of real jazz and bebop language for the solo.”

In 2021, SCayos released his beat tape, Ethereal Nights. At 15 songs, the LP showcased an atmospheric palette of daydreamy beats, vivid and lush wonders. Features included familiar names such as Barnes Blvd., frumhere, Strehlow, and more.

Despite making beats since age 12 and playing piano since age 5, SCayos is just getting started. Experimenting with his voice, SCayos continues to push his boundaries. Full of inspiration and influences that range from Maurice Ravel to Kanye West, FKJ to Frank Ocean, there is much more to expect from SCayos, including his debut full-length (via Nettwerk) down the road and plenty of singles and collaborations along the way.

SCayos joins Nettwerk’s expanding label roster, which includes instrumental artists like Nathan Kawanishi, The Album Leaf, Huey Daze, Slumberville, The Alaskan Tapes, Fletcher Reed, and others. Stay tuned for more music and info.
