MORGXN’s highly anticipated third studio album, BEACON, is out today on Nettwerk—his debut with the label. Listen to the album HERE and watch/share a lyric video for new song “Backbone” HERE.
In celebration of the album, MORGXN will be playing three special album release shows in Nashville (February 2), New York (February 7), and Los Angeles (February 10).
The rising Nashville-based star shared a number of tracks leading up to the release—“To Be Human,” “Fading ,” “My Revival,” “Young & In Love,” “ Modern Man” and title track “Beacon.”
After living in Los Angeles for a few years, MORGXN decided to confront his past and return home to his Tennessee roots. Currently building a farm in the Nashville area, he has become passionately involved in activism around the city. “I’ve got a hit song called ‘home’ that’s sending me around the world, and yet I was terrified of going home,” he details. “Talk about being in Nashville, at a time where queer lives are on the line, drag is on the line, trans rights are on the line, women’s rights are on the line…”
He wrote and recorded all of the new album from his hometown, the title track even being penned from his childhood piano. Coming into the making of BEACON with over 100 songs, he teamed up with producer Marshall Altman (Natasha Bedingfield, Matt Nathanson, Citizen Cope) who helped pare them down into a collection of his most powerful tracks.
Nashville born and bred artist Morgan Isaac Karr, best known as MORGXN, released his debut album vital in 2018 including the hit lead single “home” featuring Walk The Moon. The track was a Top 10 Alternative Radio hit—landing on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart and Billboard Rock Airplay Chart—cited by Billie Eilish as one of the inspirations behind her Grammy-award-winning song “bad guy.” He then released MERIDIAN [extended edition] a deluxe version of his beloved MERIDIAN vol 1 and vol 2 EPs. In 2021, he performed his viral hit song “WONDER” alongside Sara Bareilles on Jimmy Kimmel Live. In his two years as an independent artist, his self-released music exceeded 200M streams.
