June 16, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Today, Liberia-bornTennessee-based Afro-Appalachian folk artist Mon Rovîa releases his new single Running Boy —a haunting meditation on inner turmoil and healing. The release follows his recent single, “Oh Wide World,” and his critically praised Act 4: Atonement EP, the final chapter in a bold and introspective four-part series.

This Juneteenth, Mon will also join Mel Robbins for an unforgettable conversation on The Mel Robbins Podcast. Known for tackling the emotional and psychological topics that matter, the podcast offers the perfect space for Mon to explore his journey, creativity, and healing. Alongside today’s release, he announces his highly anticipated ‘A Place To Gather’ Fall North American Headline Tour, marking his most expansive run to date.

“‘Running Boy’ traces the shadows of a restless soul, caught between the yearning to escape and the longing to find peace. It whispers of battles within and the quiet triumph of hoping that you can dance once more, instead of run,” explains Mon.

With its unflinching honesty, the track is a powerful extension of Mon’s intensely personal songwriting—bridging past and present, grief and growth.

Originally from Liberia and now rooted in Tennessee, Mon’s sound fuses his West African heritage with Appalachian folk traditions, creating a rich and modern sonic landscape that defies genre boundaries. Named one of Spotify’s 2024 Juniper Artists to Watch, Mon Rovîa has quickly captivated audiences around the globe. He’s sold out every headline show to date and performed on iconic stages including BonnarooAustin City Limits, and the Newport Folk Festival. His touring history includes stints with Gregory Alan Isakov, and Josiah and the Bonnevilles, and most recently, a standout performance supporting Quinn XCII at Red Rocks.

He recently completed a sold-out European tour in May 2025 and a performance at Boston Calling, further cementing his status as a global artist on the rise. Mon has upcoming festival slots at  Zootown Missoula and a return to the Newport Folk Festival—solidifying his reputation as one of the most compelling and original voices in contemporary folk and indie music.
