December 8, 2023 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Vocalist, songwriter, and producer Miya Folick gives fans a new take on three tracks from her critically acclaimed recent LP, ROACH.

Roach (Live And Acoustic), out today, features an exhilarating and thunderous live take on “Cockroach,” a stripped-back twangy acoustic version of “Nothing To See,” and a hushed acoustic version of the alt-pop anthem, “Get Out Of My House.” The original album was released on May 26th to praise from Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPR, Brooklyn Vegan, Under The Radar, Cosmopolitan, and more.

The live version is especially poignant as Folick has spent the last year on the road headlining a massive North American tour, performing at Austin City LimitsLife is BeautifulDown In The Valley, and Kilby Block Party, and supporting globally renowned artists like Tove Lo, Dermot Kennedy, Aly & AJ, Madison Cunningham, The Head And The Heart, and Father John Misty. With no plans of stopping, she has already confirmed a run of dates in May 2024 supporting Mitski in the UK, announced a headline London show at Lafayette on May 12th, and confirmed appearances at Innings Festival in Arizona and Treefort Festival in Idaho.

The alternate versions follow her latest track, “What We Wanna,” which is the iconic lead single from the official soundtrack to the new Apple Original drama series The Buccaneers.  The Buccaneers is not Folick’s first foray into writing for Film and TV. She has also scored the film, Cora Bora, which was directed by Hannah Utt and was the first feature to star Meg Stalter (“Hacks”) which premiered at SXSW earlier this year and had her 2018 track, “Freak Out,” in season two of the viral summer show Heartstopper.
